Our Mission
Shaw Heritage Arts and Wellbeing (SHAW) Studios is a charity dedicated to strengthening mental wellbeing, social connection and healthy ageing through evidence-based arts and heritage practices that bridge healthcare, community and culture.
Why We Exist
Mental wellbeing and social connection are among the greatest determinants of lifelong health, yet too many people continue to face life's challenges without accessible, non-stigmatising pathways to support and belonging.
Risks of isolation and cognitive decline for a super-aged society - 1 out of 5 are currently 65+, accelerating to 1 out of 4 by 2030
4 out of 10 new mothers experience subclinical to clinical symptoms of depression from pregnancy up to 2 years postpartum (10-15% of new mothers experience postnatal depression)
1 in 3 young people in Singapore (aged 15 to 35) have experienced severe or extremely severe symptoms of depression, anxiety, or stress.
SHAW Studios was created in direct response to the high prevalence of mental health concerns across all age groups in Singapore.
As a centre for creative health, we bring together artists, researchers, healthcare professionals, educators, community partners, philanthropists and corporate leaders to co-create innovative programmes that strengthen wellbeing, foster connection and deliver measurable social impact.
Through capability building, research and cross-sector partnerships, we seek to expand the role of creative healthcare through scalable and inclusive models.
